Making ice cream Stuff we used
What we did We made ice cream using the things above we put ice in a big vons bag with the rock salt ( a lot of it ) The in another bag we put the heavy whipping cream, milk, vanilla extract. Then we put the bad of milks and stuff in the bad with the ice, then for about 4 mins we put the ice bag with milk bag on the inside in the freezer until it started to freeze then we took it out and started to shake the two bags. The reason we did this was because so the milk wouldn’t freeze into a block of milk but into a thick cream. Then after that we used the bags as piping bags and we piped them into the cups and then we ate it. What we learned The salt makes the ice colder by lowering the temp of the ice and making the ice colder and that means that the ice will take longer to melt and therefore means it will keep colder and the colder it is the fast it will take for the milk to become ice cream. The science for the cream and stuff is the same thing when it comes to making water into ice, you have to lower the temp so that you can decrease the movement of the molecules in the milk. What we used We just poured the milk and other stuff right into the bag, then we carefully closed the bad and then we set it to the side. With the ice we used cups to put the ice from the ice bags to the salt bags. We used about 5, 2 gallon zip lock bags from vons. We also used cups to serve the ice cream. How we cleaned it up We made sure there was no mess left. We cleaned up all the water from the ice some of the ice that fell on the counter we had to wipe up with towels and napkins. Then the milk that has spoiled we cleaned up and after we wipe it down we made sure it was sticky are anything. We didn't use any chemicals so we didn't have to use eye protection or body protection. We did make sure when we were shaking the bags that our hands didn't get too cold so we would switch off and or put a towel over the bag then shake Looking inward I contributed by shaking the bags well the cream was freezing. By me shaking the bag it made the cream become ice cream inside of a block of frozen milk. I think i did a pretty good job because the ice cream had a good texture and was almost the constituency of real ice cream. Looking outward Alexis, sophia, brooke, teirra, I think as a good we did pretty good, we work good as a team doing one thing each to make the work evan and everyone contributed. I contributed buying milk and heavy whipping cream, I also shock the bags and helped prepare the ice and salt bags well the others prepared the cream bags. Looking forward I would have try to make the cream bags colder before we started to shake them i would have left just the bag of cream in the freezer for about 5-10 mins before shaking them, Because i feel like that would have made the process go way faster and the ice cream would have had a better constituency for when it was done. Also After the ice cream was almost done with the shaking i would have put the bags of cream in the freezer for about 2-3 mins so it could become a little harder but that is a person perfumers. I would chose to work with alexis just because me and her work very well together and we did a lot of the work making the ice cream the 1st and 2nd time. Yeah we could do it again and make different flavors and we would perfect the texture and try different ways and also try different toppings. Take aways Some skills we learned doing it a 2nd time, would be have about 5 different ziplock bags with the ice and salt because if you just have one bag when it starts to melt the water gets ever messy and it's just easier. Also make sure you doing this in a place with a sink. Piece of advice if you did most of the work make sure you get the first cup of the ice cream because it's the best of and you deserve it.

Disappearing Ink
What you do - Measure phenolphthalein into a 125 mL enienmeter flask -Add 10 mL of Ethanal and stir until dissolved - Add 100 mL of Dl H2O - Add ( drops wise) 3 M NaOH until dark red M= moriarity- a measure of concentration After putting the water in the enienmeter flask the water became ever and it almost looked a milky liquid. Then we had to put about 5 drops of the red into ours then when we first put the drops in there the liquored it started off looking pink then we added about one more drop and it got clear and red. After that we took a little drop and yup it on a piece of paper and after that the red started to fade away. Also Andrew put drops on a lab coat and then the red went away, But then he opened a counter on ammonia and ammonia is a base and bases can bring back the red color. Some of he things we learned was how it works step by step, From explaining it to use then to Showing us. He give us the information and he let use do pretty much everyhthing excet putting the drops of red in to the enienmeter flask when the liquad was milky and white, BUt right after the drops started to work the white milky liquad turned red and got very clear and then thats when we could out the red on paper or clothes ( wouldnt start with clothes ) but on a white pices of paper you will see if you put a small drop on happy and maybe spread it out a little bit. Once it starts drying a little bit you will see it start going away. What would be cool to do in the furter such as do it agin, would be to make it a little darker and make messges with it. Such as like write a letter with it and then when it dessares then you like send it to a person and all they would have to do is expose it to a base and the letter would come back to life. If i could go back and do it again I would have asked more about why it works, And like have hime expain more about what us going on and why it is happening.\ But for the most part me and my table worked really good with each other we helped each other with this experment we had to do it to times because the first time we didnt do steps in order, and this caused the liquad to not become white and cloudly and we couldnt figure out why it wouldnt work and as a table team we took the steps back and redid it and got it right and it worked really well Ocean Acidification is when carbon is released into the the air and when the presser going down in the sky it falls into the ocean and it makes the ocean more acidic and that can kill reefs and the cause of that can kill fish and other living things that live in reefs. Scientists they measure the acid in the ocean and they see how much are in the waters and if it pases a serten leave then they have to be worried, the scale they go by is 0-10. Ph= Measure acidity or Bajiggity I learned how the Co3-2 can affect the ocean life, it can make small animals with shells and other type of shells, but the shells gets soft and that is a primary protection for small animals and their shells get soft they can get killed or eaten by bigger things Also I learned that with that ocean acidification the base of the food change gets messed up and if the base of the food change gets messed up the coral can’t grow and a lot of sea animals count on coral reefs for a shelter and food. I learned that the ocean and whats happening in the water has a big thing on what happens in the air and also whats in the air can change the water and if you change the water or air thereis big things that can happen. Such as how anialms can die and cause the change in the food change and that can then affect many other things out of the water as well. It would even be how a bird can eat that fish because something in the food change cause less fish in a area and that can mean that people dont have food and if the air keeps going the way its going this can happen on a bigger scale. Going forward from here one peron cant change how the whole air is , and if that was a fact the air and water would be 100% better but it takes mass amount of people to make a small change but this mass amount of people needs to come together because then a change can be looked at. I wanted to change some things i do becuase people might not know but just one peron can make a differents becuase jsut like motch said if you do a good thing and someone sees it they might want to do it and then someone see them and just hope it keeps going. The electromagnetic spectrum which ranges from gamma waves to radio waves is all light in the universe. The shorter the wave the higher the energy moves more. But the blue wave is the shorts that the human eye can see. Different chemicals burn with different color light and thats when you can see what side on the electromagnetic spectrum they are on.
We talked about this chart.. It shows how temperature and pressure determines if something is a gas solid or liquid. The temperature and pressure ( shown on the graph) tell you how the phases change works and what happens when this phases change is happening. Dry ice is a solid at room pressure but a very cold temp. When the temp goes up and the pressure stays the same it starts turning into a gas . When you up the pressure and the temp the dry ice starts turning into a liquid.
We talked about the earth's layers what they are made of and how they work, We talked about how the earth’s iron core protects the earth with the magnetic fields.
For the experiment we used Na2SiO3^-2 and we put it in water and then when it sank to the bottom of the test tube it started making little bubbles and when each bubble went up a piece of the rock would go up with it. I wasn’t at school the day we did the properties of matter so Tiera and I put a water bottle in the freezer and before it was frozen we slammed it on the table and the rest of the water that wasn't ice froze and you could see it freezing. What happen on this change was that the water was at it freezing point but it wasn't quite ready, but us slamming it on the table cased it to speed up the process. The ice crystals begin to collect water but they were like snowflakes and they clotted together flat so that you could see the phase change in the bottle. The way I think of sciences is the answer for things around us , Science is the explosion of the earth and how things work They used experiments and tests to help explain but without science the world would nowhere be the same When the balloons hit the candle they blow up. I think this happen because first the fire melted the rubber and when the balloon popped the hydrogen hit the fire and caused it have a reaction.
1. I would explain the word science as the way to explain things, science is the explanation of the things around us. How the world woulds how things in the world work.
2. A hypothesis is a way of say what you think is going to happen after you try something only knowing a limited amount of information. Hypothesis can change after you do the experiment or the test . |
